The grey in your dining room works beautifully. Gorgeous room. I agree, you can make anything your own.

Nancy

You've done a fun mix. I agree....you just have to make things your own. Some homes bring the desire to a more heightened level than others. My sweet husband also put up wainscotting in our dining room and I love it. Making a house a home brings great happiness. I love being in my home everyday and love it with all my heart.

kasey

looks beautiful. I can't wait to see it done.

that is a beautiful color on the walls. we painted a darker blue over new white wall when we were first married. i was working and my husband did it. when i got home he said "i hope this is what you wanted" in a not very happy voice. i think it killed him to paint over the white. that was about 4 colors ago. can't wait to see what the waincotting does to the room. thanks for sharing. it's a beautiful space.

I most certainly don't live in my dream home. But we're making it ours and I'm very comfortable here. I think that no matter where you live if you surround yourself with the things you love you can start to make it feel like your dream home!

Lovely chandelier!

Tricia

Oh my, that chandelier is GORGEOUS! You have a great style and as for the color on the walls, Perfect. Have a great weekend!

amy

love your last line, jeanne! and you don't have to have "the best" to make it truly beautiful, meaningful, and homey. i love that dinning room color, too!!

Rachel

Wow! That is a beautiful room. Until I started actually reading your post, I thought the photos were from a magazine. I love the painting.

The Beautiful Life

LOVE THIS!! I have what looks like the very same shade of charcoal-y grey in TWO rooms here -- my daughter's room and in our media room off my office in our "carriage house".
Like you, once its up on the walls, covering the entire area, I just love it. I have not yet grown tired of it and it looks especially great with vintage-y decor with wood tones and a touch of "industrial metals" added in. Your dining room is PERFECT! Pottery Barn should take their inspriation from it! :)

What a great post! You are absolutely right. A home is what you make it, whether it is tiny or big, your perfect vision or not. It is all in the details that you add that make it a reflection of you. I love decorating and can not wait to move and put my stamp on a new place. I will remeber to look for the possibilities and not just for "perfect".

jenjen

What a wonderful room!!! I love the wall color. Beautiful!

When I moved into my home 7 years ago, every single wall was white. It has taken a while, but now everything is painted. It feels so much more cozy and mine now.

I love that chandelier! So pretty!
